Lachlan Wilson and Matt Dodds
Stargazing Adventures is two friends who enjoy exploring the night sky and imaging its many wonders.
Matt is a High School Physics teacher who grew up in the Blue Mountains, west of Sydney. Blessed with dark skies growing up, Matt use to look out his window of a night and gaze upon the stars. Since finishing University he has persued his hobby of Astronomy and Astrophotography. The highlight of Matt's Astronomy career was watching the 2012 Transit of Venus at Siding Spring Observatory with his girlfriend at the time Jennie. It was a bloody freezing morning on the mountain but totally worth it!
Lachlan is a university student studying Aerospace Engineering in Sydney. Having grown up loving space, Lachie found a telescope for sale at a school fete, and his passion for astronomy grew from there. Astrophotography started when he was frustrated that he couldn’t share what he was seeing. Experimenting with various methods, he slowly found a path to follow that has take him to here. Some highlights are winning categories in 3 separate David Malin awards, winning a Bintel Astrophotographer of the Year Award, as well as judging the competion, and the Astronomical Society of Australia trip to Exmouth for the April 2023 Solar Eclipse.
